Some Bullets Don't Have To Be Fatal, But This One Was

The ballots were only tallied yesterday but Rudy Guiliani's burial had begun a few weeks ago. For such a "law and order" guy, he really shot himself in the foot. Who are his political strategists? Make sure you remember their names and introduce them to your enemies.

Will people be asking "what does Rudy do now?" Not sure whether anyone really cares. I remember Rudy when he was mayor and tried to shut down a community center in our Cobble Hill neighborhood in Brooklyn, and replace it with a homeless center. He was angry with our local councilman for voting against a project the Mayor had favored. Little did the Mayor know that among our neighborhood residents were journalists, corporate lawyers and other influentials who mounted a highly visible, public campaign condemning the mayor's action. The Mayor then backed down and our community center stayed. But the damage was done, at least in the minds of those who felt the direct sting of Rudy's vindictiveness.

His judgment has always been very suspect, and it's obvious that the voters in Florida and elsewhere recognized this and saw through the 9/11 veneer.

See you later Rudy. Try your hand in the not-for-profit world, if they will have you.
